NHS Property Services

value:

£500,000

scope of work

the project aimed to enhance various aspects of the health centre, including upgrading clinical spaces to meet current NHS standards, improving staff and patient WC facilities with the addition of a baby feeding space, and updating flooring, redecoration, and lighting in communal areas.

it also involved replacing the heating and domestic hot water plant and controls, as well as refurbishing the first-floor office accommodation and staff facilities.

challenges faced

executing the project within a fully operational clinical facility posed significant challenges, however our extensive experience in these environments allowed us to provide the right instruction.

asbestos removal was necessary to facilitate the work, adding to the complexity.

the structural implications of improving the WC layouts were challenging, as was the deterioration of pipework within inaccessible voids, which complicated the plant upgrade.

outcome

the project successfully improved internal comfort by addressing previous overheating issues and brought clinical spaces up to current standards.

the health centre now boasts a modern look and feel, replacing its previously dated appearance.

the addition of accessible WC facilities and a baby feeding space has been particularly beneficial, meeting the critical needs of the patient group at this site.
